My Story

I’m Shivani—a conservation architect with an unwavering passion for preserving and restoring historic and cultural landmarks that tell our shared stories. I hold a B.Arch from the Institute of Design Education & Architectural Studies (IDEAS), Nagpur University, and an M.Arch in Conservation from the School of Planning & Architecture (SPA), Bhopal. These academic experiences laid a strong foundation in architectural design and heritage conservation.

With over a decade of experience, my journey has been a blend of academic exploration and practical application, reflecting my commitment to safeguarding our cultural heritage. I began my career as a faculty member and now continue to share my knowledge and inspire the next generation of architects and conservationists as a visiting faculty member at architectural institutions in Nagpur.

One of the most defining moments in my career was my two-year tenure with the Archaeological Survey of India, where I played a key role in the restoration of the Markanda Temple in Gadchiroli. This project deepened my understanding of historical architecture and the intricacies of preserving it for future generations.

Beyond restoration, I’ve sought to bring history closer to the community. As a heritage walk leader with Orange Odyssey, I helped residents of Nagpur reconnect with their city’s rich past. Today, as a curator at Gondwana Collective, I continue to craft meaningful experiences that celebrate the vibrant heritage of our region.

I’ve also organized workshops on heritage documentation in Nagpur, empowering others to value and protect architectural history. My work is fueled by a deep respect for cultural legacies and a desire to inspire people to treasure and preserve our shared heritage.
